1850 Marines - just messing around
Hi
So, I was messing around with Marines, trying to put something together that would be at least a little scary. Here is my initial offering:
HQ
Librarian
Elite
2 x Ironclad Dread, heavy flamer upgrade (from stormbolter): Drop Pod
Troops
2 x 10 Marines, Powerfist, Flamer, Lascannon; Razorback w/ Extra Armour, pintle stormbolter
10 Marines Power Weapon, Flamer, Lascannon; Razorback w/ Extra Armour, pintle stormbolter
10 Marines Power Weapon, Flamer, Multi-melta; Razorback w/ Extra Armour, pintle stormbolter
10 Marines, Powerfist, Meltagun, Multi-melta; Drop Pod
Fast Attack
3 Scout Bikers, cluster mines, locator beacon.
The idea it so put high threat units in place early - the dreads, and have an armoured wave of powerfists and flamers in razorbacks, with small support units providing long range fire.
Thoughts?
Cheers,
Nate
Are you just wanting the Librarian or the 2 power upgrade as well? The force weapon really does help you out with big critters and characters :)
40 Marines is scary.
Espeically when 10 of them show up on your door step.
It will be hard for most lists to deal with both Ironclads and the Razorbacks first round for sure. Giving you a chance to do what you want for a turn. However, turn 2 your razor backs become shooting priority (cause your Ironclads are in combat likely)
That raises one quick question: Are you wanting your Razorbacks as additional punch? Or as a ride to get your Power/Flamer combos into place? Depending on how much of option b you end up with, Rhino's will be a better buy in case you want the full 10 guys riding together to avoid kill point problems.
Rather than the 2nd Ironclad, just to further emphasize your bodies...A squad of Legion of the Damed with some melta weaponry would be a great thing.
That gives you a good option turn 1 on if you need the lone Ironclad early or want to save him for late. And bring the marines down early to go tank hunting (Since it seems like other than Tau and Guard, most anti-tank is tanks)
