Cato Sicarius Space Marine issue
Hi there, Im posting here because the website wouldnt let me contact the council (web page not found?) but if anyone knows off hand about my issue please let me know! Captain Cato Sicarius has a special rule "rites of battle" this rule contains that : If Sicarius is on the table, all other Space Marine units can use his leadership for any Morale or Pinning tests. My issue is to determine whether or not this special rule can continue to an allied Space Marine army for the purposes of the doubles tournament. I understand that the rules must state who the rule applies to and it does say ALL other space marine units may use the rule. Does anyone have any ideas?
Thanks for any input!
Hello,
I was reading the "40k Players Guide"
and I belive the Answer you'll be "Yes" the special rule continues to your allies
-------------------------------------------------
Page 4 on the Players Guide
Each Team is considered to be one 2000 point force for the duration of the Tournament.
This means that many abilities are shared, provided the wording of the specific rule allows it.
For example, Necrons from one force are eligible for “We’ll be Back” rolls into Necrons from
the other force. Tyranid Synapse from one force extends to the other friendly force, if they
are also Tyranids. This also means that when designing your list, your army is considered to
be worth 2000 points (i.e. yes to elite carnifexes, characters with a 1500/2000 point
requirement. Exception: Vehicles with transport capacity may NOT carry forces from the
other player’s army.
Thanks for the input, thats what I figured as well. I hope thats how it works out :)
Usually as long as the rule is specific enough in it's description it will carry over.
I think the whole "not a space marine" thing refers to Nate's earlier post regarding drop pod assaults, ect. That is because codex marines have a special rule regarding drop pods, while older codex's do not. He doesn't literally mean that a black templar is not a space marine, only that he isn't a "Codex" space marine... which he isn't.
I don't really see why it wouldn't carry over, or it Dante or any other non-codex commander wouldn't carry over his rule for leadership, as it applies to "space marines".
You'll just have to wait until somebody on the council post to be sure.
Sorry for the long time before a response.
Nate is away on vacation this week. And the Council reviews all rules questions as a group to ensure the most balanced path is taken for the good of all players involved in the tournament.
We are planning to get an updated FAQ and final scenario versions up for Sept 1st. I will add this to the list of items to be addressed in that update.
Later,
Greg
Sounds good thank you

Hi again, just an update, we believed that technically Black Templars (my other partner's army) arent space marines. However, they all contain the rule "and they shall know no fear..." a rule that can only be given to Space marines. I know its pretty obvious that Black Templars are also space marines but the rules must be specific so Im just trying to prove my point that they are indeed space marines. On page 22 and 23 of the Black Templar codex its made pretty apparent that they are both Black Templars and Space Marines. My question still stands however, can Sicarius' special rule be given to the entire army? Please let me know!
Thank you!
