Introducing the Tiered System - UPDATED FEBRUARY 2, 2009
Over the last six months, my discussions with players from all over the province have resulted in a clear message: not all books are built equally in the world of Warhammer Fantasy. This seems to be leading towards a lack of variety on the tournament scene.
This trend has led us to the conclusion that things must change if we want variety at the event. Therefore the Warmaster’s Council has made the decision to adopt a form of the European Team Championship tiered approach to tournament play.

The Plan Moving Forward Thank you in advance for your insights and observations. When: What: Where: Why: Thank you,
We ask those who intend to attend the Fantasy Challenge on March 20-21, 2010 to spend the next little while play-testing their armies at these proposed tiers. There are several army books that are on the knife-edge of being in one tier or another. We want feedback on the following questions:
1. Should any of High Elves, Dark Elves, or Lizardmen be placed in Tier 1?
2. Should any of the Tier 3 armies be moved into Tier 2?
3. Where do the new Skaven fit within the tiers?
Any feedback received before Feb 1, 2010, will be taken into consideration for the final tiers, at which time the final decisions will be made.

The Warmaster's Counil
First off I'd like to say how pumped I am for this new system, I am glad we are moving forward with a system that will allow for competition between all the armies from top to bottom.
In saying that though I think that the placement of a couple armies in the syetem can be fixed, I think that all your tier 3 armies are solid in there placement.
In tier 2 I think that Dark elves and Lizardmen can be moved to tier 1. Lizardmen won both the last Grand tournament and the Ard Boyz so they can beat both armies you currantly have on your tier 1, this alone should justify them being one tier higher. I have played against and played as the Dark elves and every time there played they would be able to stay near the top of a leaderboard depending on the abality of the player controling them.
The High elves I am not so sure about, they can play in either tier so I hope you watch and see how they do because I think they may have to be moved up.
Skaven I feel storngly that they should start in tier 1 for the simply reason that there a new book and from what I've seen, most new books (excluding Warriors) are on the same level as your top 2 armies so I would start them in tier 1 until proven otherwise in tournament gameplay.
In short after a few tournaments we should all have a better understanding of were everything goes, thanks for your time.
R.
I will crush you all!
